The walls I built

A poem about healing, forgiveness, and letting go of the walls I’ve built.

I fell a thousand feet,
truth revealed,
my eyes open,
wide and haunted.

Everything crumpled,
your image destroyed,
my heart split.

Too many wounds,
left weeping.

There’s too much to heal.

So I built it,
brick by brick,
strong and steady.

I tended to me,
you were left pleading,
I looked the other way,
scared and alone.

Then gently,
one thing after another,
your promises became truths.

You got the help you needed,
started to want to live your life again,
wanting change,
wanting a different future.

I could see it,
with caution,
I watched and waited.
I hoped.

Then it happened.
The walls I built
started melting,
one by one.

Respect.
Truth.
Love.
I felt it.

Protect it.
Cherish it.
Let’s melt together.
Don’t let the walls get in our way.
